Disney's Newsies — Audition Info

We are excited to work with you! Auditions will be held at the FCC Hall, 250 Nyssa St., Junction City 97448 on July 9th and August 1st.

Notes for Auditions

  • Please sign up for one audition time for each auditioner — not for each part you are auditioning for.
  • Please arrive at least 5 minutes before your audition time.
  • Auditionees may choose two of the audition songs to sing.
  • Be warmed up and ready to sing your full range, if auditioning for a singing role.
  • There are several non-singing roles. If singing is not your strong suit, we have roles for YOU! — i.e. The Delancey Brothers, Weasel, Snyder, Theodore Roosevelt, Mr. Jacobi, Bunsen, Hannah, Nunzio.
  • There will be scripts available at check-in for cold reading.
  • Please provide the following at auditions:
    • Your completed audition form (print and fill out the form provided on our site, or pick up a blank copy at check-in).
    • Your conflict dates listed on the form.*
    • A headshot of yourself, only if you have not been in a show with JC Mainstage.
  • A parent must be available to come to the Meet-and-Greet for all cast members under 18. It will be held on September 10th @ 6:00 PM.

*Conflict dates do affect casting. We must have ALL conflict dates at the time of your auditions. Please, no conflict dates between November 1–12.

  • Newsies Music Rehearsal — August 10–13, 6:30pm–8:45pm
  • Newsies Choreography Camp (newsies only) — August 17–21, 6:30pm–9:00pm
  • Meet and Greet — September 10, 6:00pm
  • A full calendar will be posted on the Newsies Cast and Crew Facebook page and Newsies-Band, as soon as possible after auditions have concluded.

Further Casting Information

  • Newsies is set in New York. New York accents are encouraged for auditions, but not mandatory.
  • Many cast members will be playing multiple roles.
  • There will be some YouTube links below for melody line help on the music. Listen to lots of different people singing, find the one you like, and listen a lot!
  • Cast members will be responsible for finding their costume pieces according to what our costumer suggests. Specialty costumes will be attained through the theater company.
  • Once you are cast and receive your script, please start memorizing as we prefer no books in hand during rehearsals.
  • The show will be performed at the FCC Stage: 1250 Nyssa St., Junction City 97448.

Required Each Season

To All Cast & Crew

These forms are required annually. Even if you've filled them out before, you must submit new ones each season. Return completed forms directly to the director, Corey Snyder.

Each year, JC Mainstage requires updated forms from every participant. These forms ensure we can safely and effectively operate our productions. Please download, complete, print, and return all required forms.
